Twenty-three years after their contentious breakup, Nicole Kidman has finally spoken out about Tom Cruise and their divorce, confirming what many suspected to be true.

Even though Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are currently enjoying a happily ever after, her romantic journey has not always been smooth. It’s easy to forget that she was married to Tom Cruise for eleven years, from 1990 to 2001, and their tumultuous divorce was widely covered in tabloids during that period.

Despite the passage of time, the details of their breakup remain fascinating, with new revelations emerging. Amidst a whirlwind of turbulence and grief, Kidman achieved what might be considered her greatest triumph. She recently shared one of the most emotionally fraught moments of her remarkable career.

As fans of the actress are aware, Kidman won an Oscar in 2003 for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in “The Hours,” and the finalization of her divorce from Cruise took place shortly before the ceremony.

Isabella, 31, and Connor, 28, were adopted by Cruise and Kidman during their time as one of Hollywood’s power couples in the previous decade. Unfortunately, their relationship crumbled after eleven years.

While they did ultimately get divorced, the timing couldn’t have been worse for Kidman. Despite her Oscar nomination for “The Hours,” her divorce from Cruise cast a shadow on what should have been a career-defining performance.

Even though she won the Oscar, which remains her first and only to date, Kidman has revealed that her private life marred what should have been a great night. In a conversation with author Dave Karger for his new book “50 Oscar Nights,” she shared, “I went home and ended up ordering takeout and eating it on the floor of the Beverly Hills Hotel.” After enjoying some French fries and a burger on the motel floor with my family, I retired for the night. I was taken aback by that. I went in search of love because I really need a romantic partner. For the simple reason that this is where you should say, ‘This is ours.’

“I was in bed before midnight; I went to bed alone,” she continued. “I would be gone for a whole day if I ever won again.”
